Free xHTML / CSS / Flash Web Site Base Template

For the past several months, I have been working on a development time saving template for standard web pages. As a working developer, I find that I am constantly doing the same initial steps on every project when it begins. This is my attempt at putting those things in place from the get go. I have pulled in xhtml, css with several work-arounds for styling, and Flash.

Firstly, I used a style sheet by Eric Meyer for reloading the base styles across browsers. Using this as a starting point, I went back though and added the clearfix solution to make divs stretch around other floated divs, or what ever. Just put the class '.clearfix' in the containing tag housing the floated elements. I also put in the fix to remove the 3px image gap problem in IE, and the fix to remove the orange-yellow background color IE puts in should the user have the Google Toolbar installed.

The xhtml has Conditional Comments to aid with styling found in an article on Position is Everything. Flash has been inserted through SWFObject started on the wonderful deconcept site, although not the newest version which is now 2.0.

I have plans to add in the SuckerFish navigation, but have not done so yet.

I hope this package will speed you along with your web site construction. This has been updated from the last version I posted on 12/06/2007. This template does not require any specific application, such as Dreamweaver, to use. It is intended to be the bare bones beginning. I use SKEdit for my coding. It is a wonderful product if you have not tried it out.
