Many Older octoberland Articles Now Available
Written by craig coffman
As mentioned in an earlier post, I have made some changes octoberland. All in all, I think for the best and it is still a work in progress. One of the biggest problems with this process is a loss of posts. The databases were just not working out. So, out of love for my readers, I manually copied and pasted numerous articles into this new site. As you look through, if you find missing / broken links please bring them to my attention. Enjoy your time in octoberland!

Fast Company: My New Magazine Obsession
Written by craig coffman
Okay, so I know Fast Company is not a new thing, and I am hardly a ground-breaker on reading it. However, I always dismissed it as a light-weight magazine. I figured it was just trying to be a hip business rag. Well, it is. But the substance is beyond the norm.
Bloggers in Arms

This is a list of my friend's personal blogs and websites. They are not listed in any particular order, so do not think there is any sort of favortism in play. These are a group of highly talented and interesting individuals. Hopefully you will find them as engaging as I do.
Add a commentGreen Your House: $100 worth of tips.
We have all been bombarded with tips, tricks, and suggestions to make our homes and lives more eco-friendly. With all the tips out there, I started to wonder how useful they really are? I mean, obviously doing anything is better than doing nothing but how much of a change could really be made? Living in Omaha, there is a growing green movement, but most people are still seen as tree-hugging hippies if they do something for the environment. Instead, I thought of these changes in a financial light to see if that might be a better angle to make people try them. I decided to put a few basic ideas to the test.
DISCLAIMER: none of this article is scientific nor proven in tests. They just reflect the changes in my own life. Please do not ask for hard data because there is really not much.

Last month I decided to go ahead and buy a few items I have been wanting and just never obtained. While the cost was low (all relative, I know), there just never seemed to be a good time in the budget to check these off. Finally, I decided there would never be a good time and took the plunge. Perhaps and apt word to use.

Since mentioning the ease of cooking salmon, I thought I would post some easy recipes for you to try at your own home. For this one, it is really simple. All you need is your piece of salmon in a foil tray. Drizzle the olive oil across the top. I have found that the less you put on, the more it keeps the fish tender. Cover the length of the fish with the desired amount of pepper. I toss some carrots in the foil tray as well. Cook at 375 in the oven, or on your grill at Medium with the center burner off, for roughly 17 minutes per inch thick in the oven, 12 minutes per inch on grill. PLEASE CHECK OFTEN AS THESE TIMES MAY VARY.

IZU are amazing. They have an album available through High Point Lowlife which kicks my ass with every listen. As described, they do have crunchy beats with such an infectious hook that I cannot stop listening to them. The energy creates a gravity which you cannot escape. Be sure to check out Polish Trouble if nothing else. It devastated me. While you can download the album on .mp3, the actual disc delivers a fuller, richer sound. Buy it if you can. You will not be disappointed!
Easy Salmon Cooking
Written by craig coffman
I love salmon. I have been told the easiest method for preparing it I have ever heard, and thought I would pass it along. Wrap it in tin foil packet, add a little olive oil and whatever seasoning, toss it on the grill or in the oven. No need for that weird fish holder for the grill. It keeps the salmon very moist and the flavor is just soaked right up. For me, I found 12 minutes / inch on the grill at 425 degrees without center burner. For the oven, 375 degree for roughly 17 minutes / inch. Be sure to check frequently until you have done this a few times as cooking times may vary. Happy eating!
