Spain levels Germany in the Euro Cup

I just watched Spain dismantle Germany today. All through the telecast, the announcers kept saying how Spain has been dubbed ‘The Underachievers’, but I did not see any hint of that. Instead, I saw the juggernaut Germany get served. Repeatedly. It was what I had expected in the end, a Spanish victory, but not such a decisive and resolute trouncing.
What I really could not understand was the announcing constantly insisting that Spain could not live up to it and that it was only a matter of time before Germany came back. I never saw the 'domination of the sport' Germany supposedly has. As well, I never saw the slagging of Spain as “accurate”.
Despite Spain’s reported inability to follow through, they were poised to be only the second team to sweep their bracket, then go on to win. They were the leading scoring team in the tournament. They were picked second most likely to win it. So why the doubting through the match. Particularly when it was clear Germany could not match them? It was just weird and annoying to hear.
Congratulations to Spain in their well earned victory today. While Torres might get most of the limelight for his sepurb play today (Germany absolutely could not contain him), the entire squad brought a top shelf performance. It really was a joy to behold. Not that they will ever hear my small voice, but there it is anyway.
